Why I paint

Painting gets my hearts attention when my ego mind wants to resist.

Painting awakens me and sometimes crystallizes thought with energy.

Painting brings me into the present, and if lucky, I become present.

Painting builds my life skills of good construction and foundation.

Painting blends the opposites in me in interesting, dynamic and beautiful ways: play and work, stress and release, busy with the still, surface and core.

Painting smashes my resistance.

Painting is honest at its best. (The alignment with what I say and do, who I am)

This honesty requires my best Self.

Painting makes me more alive, gives me hope and direction.

Painting is a gift to myself and, I hope, to others.

Painting is a labor of my gratitude.

Painting shows me how opposites, contrasts and differences can live in harmony. Right Relations.

Painting is the celebration of myself and other.

Painting is where my inner self meets the world.

Painting helps me engage, explore and define boundaries.

Painting helps me enter the great mystery.

Painting makes me think clearly with passion and excitement.

Painting helps me pay attention to the overall and the particular.

Painting helps me remember, discover and trust the hushed voice.

Painting reveals the fairness of the universal in the particular.

Art is spirit in an object.  It is concrete mystery and spirit, in dance, music, sculpture, story, poem, painting, etc.

Art is spiritual fact.

I am proud to produce something real.
